Ability 1: Darkness Flame: Due to the centuries he's spent in hell, Hiei has developed an affinity to the black fires that ravage the realm, it's pain and power leaving an imprint upon his soul. As a result, when Hiei releases his Zanpakuto, those same dark flames rise up from within him, and sheathe his blade in their black and green fury. This fire creates a fairly broad aura around the sword, dealing Spirit-based fire damage at -1 to those who narrowly dodge a meelee attack.

Technique 1: Shadowy Reach of the Fiery Blade: at the cost of 3 stamina, Hiei can extend a thrust in a straight line, generating a shot of hardened flame force that deals damage based on his Strength to all within it's path. At the cost of 6 stamina, he can instead use this with a slash, sending a 'crescent' of hardened black flames. For 10 stamina, he can instead make a complete circular slash, sending a ring shooting off all around him. This technique uses Assault for it's attack speed.

Hadou 10 Steel of Darkness Flame: by merging his dark flames with his blade, this spell converts Hiei's Shikai's flaming aura into a searing hot black and green blade. The aura effect is gone, and in it's place, the weapon deals damage at +1 strength (although it's strength in weapon clashes is unchanged), and strikes offensively as if Assault were increased by 1. These benefits also apply to Hiei's use of Shadowy Reach of the Fiery Blade. Maintaining this spell costs 5 stamina per turn.

Personality Traits: Hiei's a hardass, just out there doing his job and trying to earn a full pardon. He's not exactly a good guy, but he's not evil either.

History: The centuries of his past lives are a mystery, but one thing is clear, Hiei once was a demon, a soul convicted of evil crimes during it's time alive and sentenced to hell. During his most recent life, he managed to earn his redemption, and came to soul society for the first time, only to be told he's on 'probation' and has to serve as a Soul Reaper to pay for his crimes over his multiple lives. Recruited into Division 9 where he could be watched by Security Officers, Hiei is often sent on the more dangerous missions, and typically considered expendable, especially given the 'evil' nature of his Shikai.
